Nothing like a new life to get me back to blogging. Welcome Lilah LaRue, it was so nice to meet you.
Introducing Lilah LaRue!
May 18th, 2012Celebrating Love, Motherhood and Valentine’s Day
February 14th, 2012As I type this I’m trying to balance both a cranky newborn and a laptop on my lap. Not the typical way I blog for sure. Things have changed the last few weeks but in the best way imaginable. We welcomed Baby Burns into the world January 27th and I’m loving motherhood. Karin is relishing being a grandma as well. So today I thought I’d write a blog to celebrate love in all it’s different forms. I’m thoroughly enjoying spending my Valentines Day with my new little love. I hope you are spending your Valentines Day with the one’s you love as well! Keep Smiling, Summer
I’m so excited to introduce Rowan Kelly Burns!
He has stolen our hearts

Bridget+Aaron: Firemen, Firearms, and Fabulousness {A Vintage Willow Creek Wedding}
January 25th, 2012Most girls at some point worry about rain on their wedding day. Most girls however, do not worry so much about fire. Luckily there were plenty of firemen on hand, including Aaron, the groom to be, to reassure Bridget that the nearby fire was nothing really to worry about and the day went off without a hitch. Willow Creek was the perfect location to have a vintage style wedding with all the adorable little details. It was a beautiful day with a beautiful couple. Keep Smiling, Summer and Karin
Shotgun wedding! (…no not that kind!)
LOVE the photobooth
…And for something a little different, how about a wedding slideshow!
Sunshine, Surf, and Serenades {A Southern California Portrait Session}
November 11th, 2011You might think with a name like Summer, I would be all about the hot, warm, sunny weather. Actually, most of the time, I would prefer a nice cup of hot chocolate by the fire curled up with a good book. In reality, it’s my parents, who would name their daughter born in the dead of winter “Summer”, that are pretty much obsessed with the season. The good news is, we live in California where a little drive (or plane ride) can land you in the beautiful sunny weather, even in the middle of October. This is a fun little portrait session we did to celebrate the wonderful state we live in. And we couldn’t have a more bright, fun, energetic person to photograph than Brooke who is like a little ray of sunshine all on her own. Hope wherever you are, whatever the weather, it brings a little sunshine to your day
Keep Smiling, Summer
Nothing like a little music to start the day

November 4th, 2011Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Halloween and Baby Bumps! {TJ Farms Maternity Shoot}
October 26th, 2011Oh October…there are so many things to love! My birthday is only a month away. Pumpkin spice lattes at my local coffee shop are pretty much a daily staple (decaf thank you very much)…or actually pumpkin spice anything for that matter. But that could just be the pregnancy cravings talking. Halloween, which happens to be my husband’s favorite holiday, is just around the corner. Probably due to the fact that he has a totally reasonable excuse to dress up like Wolverine…and eat all the Halloween candy we bought for neighborhood trick-or-treaters (okay maybe that’s me too). We are moving into the season of gorgeous colored trees and beautiful fall photo sessions. With all the fun things October has to offer, we thought it was the perfect time to do a pumpkin patch maternity shoot for me and my longtime friend, Ashleigh (who has graced the blog before). So here it is! Happy October! Keep Smiling, Summer
Apparently, Ashleigh is the overachiever of pumpkin carving. Or more accurately, the professional she got to carve it for her is.
Finding this whole situation a bit ridiculous

October 18th, 2011Betsy and Shane Engagement Session
October 6th, 2011Okay…I was just getting ready to post this blog when up on yahoo.com pops the news story, Steve Jobs died. And now…I sort of feel a little out of sorts. Being an apple lover, supporter, and pretty much everyday user it kinda feels like someone I know and loved died. Sorry, I always try to make blog posts about the people…not about me…but…I guess today that isn’t exactly what your gonna get. So here is my two cents on it for what it’s worth: Life is short, live it to the fullest, love and laugh as much and often as you can. Keep Smiling, Summer
Jessica + Jason {A Carlsbad Wedding}
September 23rd, 2011For those of you who may not know, today is the autumnal equinox. I can pretend like I’m very “in the know” about these sorts of things, but really my yoga teacher just talked about it in class this week. Apparently, equinox is often understood to mean, equal day and night. Some say it’s a good time to restore balance. Why do I talk about this for a wedding blog? Well the more I thought about what I wanted to write about Jessica and Jason, the more I realized that the thing that makes their relationship really special is that they balance each other out so perfectly. In a sense they are a relationship of equal day and night. And no, I don’t mean that in some weird good vs. bad sort of way. I just mean, it’s a relationship of equals. They allow each other to be exactly who they are completely and the blending of those lives together is really beautiful. You always want someone that can bring out the very best version of yourself and I believe they found that in each other. So today was the perfect day to post Jessica and Jason’s beautiful wedding at The Crossings at Carlsbad, CA and to celebrate this day of balance. Keep Smiling, Summer
A little sneak peek of Julie and Nick’s Mendocino Wedding
September 6th, 2011Happy Tuesday! Even if Labor Day did throw me off and make it seem as if today is Monday. Kelly and I had a wonderful weekend shooting a beautiful wedding in Mendocino and I just couldn’t resist posting a little sneak peek. The bride and groom didn’t let the overcast weather dampen their spirits and from a photography point of view, I couldn’t have been happier with the weather. Can’t wait to post more photos from this wedding soon! Keep Smiling, Summer
